Project Brief - Modular Living
Arch Technology aimed to design innovative solutions for cheap, off grid and sustainable living modules for Leicester's underpaid workers needing accommodation. The buildings were required to be easily constructed and deconstructed to be transported to new sites as needed, with modular arrangement. The project was set over a 5 week timescale to design from concept to a realised set of detail drawings and construction accurate sectional scale model. This was completed during covid lockdowns remotely without access to workshops or scanning equipment.

Design Concept
The concept for the modules was to maximise floor space for each of the units, by allowing storage to be set into leaning walls, the available living space was maximised, with a partner unit to accommodate working from home. Having two units simulated the 'commute' to and from work allowing residents to separate their work and living spaces in such a restricted size dwelling. An elevated floor allows for water and power to be located safely out of the way, with a large rainwater collection bowl situated on the roof.
